Chain link fence parts list – Chain link is the name given to any woven wire fence. It is used for a variety of purposes, such as playgrounds, residences, roads, construction sites, airports and animal enclosures; it is one of the most popular types of fencing. Wire mesh fence installation is a simple do-it-yourself project. The pieces needed to build a wire fence fall into three categories: mesh, frame and accessories.
The frame of a wire mesh fence consists of the posts and rails on which the mesh is hung. Terminal posts are the final and corner posts. Terminal posts are also used to frame doors. The line poles are intermediate posts established periodically between the terminal posts at regular intervals. All messages must be adjusted to the same height. The messages can be made of metal or wood and are usually found on the ground in concrete bases.
The top rail extends along the uppermost part of the fence and provides the top of the frame. In some cases, a lower lane can be used; however, this is not common. More often, lower tension wire is stretched firmly between the posts and secured to the mesh along the bottom of the fence. As with the mesh, gauge is an important consideration in the choice of lower tension wire.
