Universal Garage Door Opener – Stanley garage door openers are larger motorized openers that can be operated by remote control. Although Stanley stopped making garage doors in 1997, many garages still use these garage doors. The three-button remote control supplied with the garage door opener can be programmed to work with the garage door opener that was packaged and with other garage doors. A special code on the remote links the control to each garage door opener.
Climb the ladder to a convenient height so you can reach the control panel on the back of the garage door opener motor section. Press “R” button on the left side of the control panel. When you press the button, the red indicator light will turn on. Programming the remote button you want to control the garage door opener by pressing the corresponding button. The lights on the motor unit will flash and then turn off when the remote control is stored.
Press the remote control button that was programmed into the motor unit to test if the door is working. Repeat steps 1 to 4 to program another remote control for this garage door motor unit or to program the two remaining buttons on the remote control for additional garage door motor units.
