When you build garage storage shelves, you can put on important things that you still need and be able to find without having to search everywhere. It is one of the methods to organize a space so that the garage does not look clutter – and that makes parking easier for the car. There are many storage options for garage shelving units in home improvement centers. There are cables, high-strength plastics and laminated wood that require only a few tools to assemble and install. You can add up the cost of these shelves, especially if you need to assemble many as your things multiply. A more cost-effective alternative is to build storage shelving from scratch, using wood available in home improvement stores.
Determine where you will build your garage storage shelves. If you have a large garage, you can build the garage storage unit along the sides of a corner space; however, in a small garage, you need to build your storage unit mounted high up on the wall, near the ceilings so you have enough space to park the car. Measure the length, width, and depth of the garage shelf. Go deeper if there is enough space. Shelves on the sides closer to the parked cars are to maintain the depth of a minimum of 18 to 24 inches. Leave enough space for the car. Gather the materials to use. For this example we would need a measuring tape, saw, hammer and nails (pneumatic gun if possible), level, clamps, and square.
