Saltillo Tile Is Made

Saltillo tiles – and handmade ceramic tiles with Mexican designs are further described as Mexican tiles or Spanish tiles. However, this artistic tile will definitely add a sense of pastoral warmth to any space. Salt tiles are considered when looking for a little history for accents. The Spaniards introduced Saltillo tiles to Mexico when the Spaniards found the right land to make tiles, in Mexico in the village called, big surprise, Saltillo. And from time to time, Saltillo tiles have been admired because of the appearance of a village that emits natural warmth when placed in any area inside or outside the home.

Salt tiles do not damage the environment, and are not toxic because they are made from natural ingredients: mud! The source of this sandy clay is basically in a basin in the middle of the high mountains of Saltillo. The traditional way to do this is to collect clay and then place it in a mixing hole, where it is soaked to soften for a day. Thickening clay is placed in a wooden mold and then pressed by hand into a wooden mold. Formed from wood mold and arranged around 45 minutes.

When clay hardens a little, saturated wood mixed with water is used to flatten and smooth the tile surface. The salt tiles may not be too sticky or too thick when smooth.  When the tiles are formed, they are then dried from one to three days. If you are lucky enough to buy footprints with toe prints, it’s because dogs, dogs or cats have crossed the tiles during sun drying time. When the tiles are completely dry, they are set to get circulating air on the back of the tile. They will be placed in a ton.
