Sliding wire basket drawer are very useful, especially when placed in cabinets used to store large amounts of items. Once installed, the shelves simply slip out, allowing for a complete view of everything inside. The installation is relatively simple, although the shelves must fit the specific cabinet size. When the shelf is built, the installation will not last long.
Open the cabinet door. Extend the inner rail to the sliding wire basket drawer image. Place the drawer slide in the cabinet, as close to the door hinges as possible without touching it. Measure the distance between the cabinet side and the back of the drawer slide with a tape measure to determine the button size. Cut two 2-inch high buttons from a piece of plywood using a miter saw. Make them the same length as the drawer slides. If necessary, build up the extra wood thickness; glue the pieces together with wood glue until it fits the size you measured.
Place the two knobs on each side of the cabinet. Measure the distance between them. Subtract an inch for the thickness of drawer slides. This number will be the width of the shelf, including the frame. The length of the front-to-back shelf will be the same length of the slides. Take the bumps and set them aside. Subtract 1-1 / 2 inches from shelf width and depth. This number gives the dimensions of the shelf bottom. Use a circular saw to cut the bottom from 3/4 inch birch plywood.
